On 21 July 2020 the Ely Bauxite Mine Beneficiaries Trust, based in Cape York in far north Queensland (Australie), signed a Research Agreement with Professor Ciaran O’Faircheallaigh of Griffith University to formalise collaboration on a research project funded by MinErAL and designed to find more effective ways of implementing agreements between Aboriginal peoples and mining companies.
In addition, the project includes Professor Thierry Rodon of Laval University, two other Australian Aboriginal partners (the Old Mapoon Aboriginal Corporation and the Dja Dja Wurrung Clans Aboriginal Corporation), and Conseil de la Nation Innu de Matimekush-Lac John, a First Nation located in northern Quebec.
