Workshop on the Implementation of Impact Benefit Agreements (IBAs)

On December 13 and 14, 2022, the Knowledge Network Mining Encounters and Indigenous Sustainable Livelihoods (MinErAL Network) and the Quebec Mining Association (QMA) held a workshop on the implementation of Impact Benefit Agreements (IBAs) that brought together representatives of indigenous nations and mining companies. The event was held in Montreal, an unceded Indigenous territory historically recognized as a gathering place for many Indigenous peoples including the Kanien'kehá:ka Nation. During the discussions, participants shared their experiences, questions and reflections on the implementation of several aspects of the agreements.
