Suzanne Mills is an Associate Professor in Labour Studies and Geography and Earth Sciences at McMaster University. Her research is concerned with the changing nature of work in northern Canada and in resource industries. Specifically she addresses questions pertaining to: how the internationalization of resource industries affects workers; the increasing influence of Indigenous people in the regulation of employment, the relation between labour mobility and identity, union engagement with Indigenous peoples and diversity and gender relations in male-dominated Industries. Most recently, Mills is the PI of a SSHRC-funded grant on worker mobility and Aboriginal employment in the construction of a hydroelectric project in Northern Ontario. Her research has been published in international and national journals.
